Oracle Cloud: Sign up failed “Error processing transaction”

I have already configured many accounts to use Oracle Cloud. Especially, since December 2020 I started to face some problems on the step where you must provide a credit card to simulate a payment but in fact, it works like a personal identification. So I have used the same card that I used previously in some setups, two other new cards and even asked some friends in different countries using their own cards and some of them have experienced the same erros while others could create their account successfully.

Follow below the mentioned error:

So I decided to contact Oracle support and they have given me an ordinary answer:

Afterwards I decided to Tweet about it so I could get some help and suggestions from the Oracle community to understand what is going on hence some friends of mine had the same issue with their own cards and then I realised that not everyone was having the same issues despite that some people I contacted before was also having the same error:

I actually tried to remove all cookies and cached data as suggested above and still had the same error. After some research I found a series of articles written by Dietrich Schroff where he described many attempts as well and in his case it seems that the solution was to use a different e-mail than before. Check out his attempts:

http://dietrichschroff.blogspot.com/2019/09/oracle-cloud-sign-up-failed-2.html

http://dietrichschroff.blogspot.com/2019/09/oracle-cloud-sign-up-failed-3-solved.html

Then I started to wonder what else could I do. I was using the cloudoracletech@gmail.com e-mail and thought maybe the words “Cloud” and “Oracle” can trigger some type of security threat while creating the account or either the absence of my name or surname in my e-mail would trigger the same. Then I decided to use an ordinary e-mail bruno.reis@ that I never ever used and I could create my new account as below:

I fixed my problem but I still was not satisfied with the way it was fixed. I might do some tests afterwards with different accounts to see if the error persists while you are using an e-mail with certain key words as “Oracle” and “Cloud” or to check if there are other unknown issues . If you have been facing the same issue or have already fixed this before, leave the solution or your thoughts on the comment section below. I faced this error in December 2020 , Dietrich in his post is dated as September 2019 and both cases there weren’t credit card issues but e-mail instead so it would be interesting to know the real issue.

Hello, I didn’t get a proper worker around for this solution once I didn’t find any documentation about this and Oracle couldn’t give a reasonable answer. I would suggest you to create a new account and try with that one.
      Kind regards, Bruno Reis.

    Hi!

I tried the email change workaround (tried a different mobile no as well).

    NO LUCK!

    Still the same error.

If it wasn’t for my mac wherein I can’t install Oracle DB for using SQL Developer, I wouldn’t keep up with it!

If anyone finds a reliable solution, please ping at ansh666333@gmail.com

    Many Thanks!

          Hi, Saloni!

We’re still working on finding a solution to the issue. Occasionally, the recommendations on this thread work, but sometimes they don’t, as in your case. I’ve also attempted to contact Oracle and some Oracle PMs, but haven’t received a response yet. We’ll keep investigating.

          Thank you!

i had this same issue. It started working after i did the following changes in sign up process.

Tried from chrome(earlier i was using Edge, not sure this helped)
    changed the email id
changed the cloud account name(added some additional prefix)
Billing address( put exactly the same name which is displayed in the card)

Hello Sanmarino, please look at the Ravindra’s comment and try that approach as well.

Try with different region e.g. US West. It worked for me. Also disable ad blocker if you have any.

Thank you for your information Ravindra!

Nothing worked, not even @Ravindra solution worked for me.
I tried 3 different mobile numbers, 4 different E-mail addresses, different names, different addresses, different regions….

When I first created oracle account, it took me about a month to successfully create in my home region.

And now this is my second time creating the free account, maybe it will work someday, I’ll continue iterating.

    I haven’t succeeded Yet, But

here is a list of parameters I changed during registrations:
    ————————————————————-
I have tested this with different IPs (different computers from different cities – from different houses of my family)
    Different credit card details
even different types (tried all three: Visa / master Card / AMEX)
    Different first / last names
    different email addresses
different email providers (gmail / hotmail)

here are the only things that stayed the same
    ———————————————–
    1. my first name was a part of all the two different email addresses I tried
    2. The region stayed the same

    That’s all

I doubt that those issues caused it because what if this first name is owned by another person?

Still looking for an answer, if anyone knows, please prompt.
    Thanx a bunch!

I thought something about it before but I could create with a different name afterward. I wonder if it is a browser, cloud or card issue. We are trying different threads to mitigate the problem.

Shock horror changing the email worked.

Not having the dot in the email was the only diffrence between the emails
I don’t know If their system possibly doesn’t like symbols in usernames.

I also had to modify the cors policy to allow the page to send the api request to create the account.

      Hello J,
      Thank you for your comment.

Updated as of Friday, June 9, 2023: I experimented with using an email provider other than “Gmail” and decided to go with Outlook. I utilized a customized domain provided by my university, and I’m delighted to share that it worked seamlessly. For those who haven’t explored this option yet, it can be a viable alternative. Another possibility is to change the suggested name of the Cloud Account to something different.

I created a new Gmail account and it doesn’t work. Also try with a outlook and diferent region, US West (Phoenix), same error. Transaction or infinity load page

  10. Thanks for this posting this. Thought I’d add my experience. I failed a lot of times with this exact issue, but succeeded finally by making the following changes:

    a. Switching from using Firefox to using Chrome (signed in as a Guest).
    b. When I did the credit card authorisation I deleted the country code in the pre-populated phone number (in my case ’44’ for UK) and replaced with 0.

I suspect it was a) rather than b), but thought I would include for completeness.
