OEM 12c : Discovering an agent on the OMS server

Hello guys, I hope everyone is doing ok in these times with the COVID-19. Nevertheless, I am writing to you a post about how to discover an OEM 12C agent on the same server that you have your OEM. In the other words, discovering the OEM agent in your OMS server as soon you have completed the installation of the OEM 12c. So let’s start. The first thing you have to do is to connect to your OEM 12 console:

This is the Enterprise Manager Home Page. Here you can select the page you would like:

Then click in “Add target” and after in “Auto Discovery Results”:

After in “Add Targets Using Guided Process” and choose “Oracle Database, Listener…” option:

Choose the server where you have your OEM 12c installed. In this case “vm2.localdomain”:

Connect to the database and setup a new password for the DBSNMP user and also unlock the status of this user:

SQL> select username, account_status from dba_users where username='DBSNMP';

SQL> alter user dbsnmp identified by <password> account unlock;

User altered.

Write this password under the “Database Discovery: Results” section:

Test the connection:

Review the results:

Confirm the target and finish the configuration:
